Savouring solitude

In my own little stone-built cottage
that stands alone in the cool, lonely country planes,
sipping my warm coffee
and stroking the bouncing Lassie's furry head
I sit by the bay window
looking out at the endless summer meadow

Ah perfect...
too perfect
to become easily true
but someday...and someday soon
it's the promise I make to my solemn self
that I will soon see that day
see that meadow
through the black night and black day

Someday and someday soon
I'll take my place at the bay window
and munch on the savoury solitude
the beautiful, peaceful solitude
my head's heavy
I want to rest it
someday, someday,
and when I do
I want to be
looking out at that meadow I say...
